Sensimetrics Corporation was founded in 1987 with the mission of providing useful toolsfor researchers, educators, and clinicians in the field of human communication. Over the years, Sensimetrics has pursued applied research on topics ranging from speech synthesis to instructional software to hearing aids. These R&D projects have developed technology that is now either incorporated into Sensimetrics' own software products or licensed to leading clinical instrument manufacturers and speech technology companies. In addition to its primary research and development activities, Sensimetrics Corporation provides consulting services in the areas of signal processing for speech and audio, speech production and synthesis, and forensic audio analysis.

Sensimetrics products include Model S14 MRI-Compatible Insert Earphones, HeLPS, a programmable PC-based hearing loss simulator providing hearing loss simulations, hearing aid simulations and cochlear implant simulations, SpeechStation2, a speech analysis software package that generates laboratory-grade spectrograms, and HLsyn and SenSyn, speech synthesizers that are used by hundreds of researchers and clinicians throughout the world for formant synthesis. Interactive courseware includes Speech Production and Perception 1, a speech science software package that supplements classroom instruction in speech, and Auditory Interactivities, newly-developed software that functions as a student's personal laboratory for teaching hearing science. Sensimetrics' Seeing and Hearing Speech provides hard-of-hearing people with computer-based lipreading training.
